What's Up?

Something's up with my older daughter. She hasn't been herself in weeks. At first we thought it was probably just the cold she had, but her atypical behavior continues. She's been very defiant and emotional at night when I'm not home, and today she burst into tears at school saying she missed me. Her teachers told me what happened, so I tried sitting her down and talking to her about it, but I'm not sure I really got anywhere. When I asked her if she was crying because she missed me, she said yes. Then I asked her if she was crying because she missed her teacher (one of the teachers she's had for a year-and-a-half just left and they hired a replacement), and she said yes again. Then she told me that a friend at school keeps bothering her to sleep over (and yes..., it's the same friend I wrote about before..., and no..., she's not sleeping over anyone's house yet). She seemed fine when I was talking to her, though, and I even got her to eat her lunch (which she hadn't touched at school).

I wish I knew what was going on in that little brain of hers.

She's 4? Some of it might be the change in the teachers at school, but we're finding 4 to be challenging. Clare is emotional about everything, and it's even worse when she's tired.

And there's no logic...she tells Darren in the morning she doesn't know how to dress herself, but then insists she has to do it herself. She has a breakdown over the most minor of things (in our eyes).

Hopefully it's just a phase and things will get back to normal soon.

same here with my 4 year old..... I've written it off as her simply being female, but I suppose it could be a phase.
