That Was A Close One!
I haven't shot any video of the girls recently, so I decided to take out the camera and record them enjoying a beautiful spring day (I'll try and post a quick bit of that video over the weekend for you). We have a cheap, plastic slide in the yard that they like to play on, only today the slide was on the driveway because I had moved it when Scott's came to fertilize my lawn. Grace climbed to the top of the slide and I was about an arms length away from her on the little deck we have. It was really sunny, so I was looking through the viewfinder of the camera and not at the flip-out LED display. I'm focused on Grace's face, when she reaches for the camera. What happened next happened so fast I'm not quite sure I can tell you what I saw, but Grace flipped over the railing of the slide, did a half a flip and landed flat on her back on the driveway between the slide and deck. Like I said, I was squinting and looking through the camera's viewfinder, so I couldn't really tell that she was leaning over the railing and never saw the fall coming.
It's a miracle she didn't get hurt. She landed totally flat on her back, so no single part of her body took the impact from the fall. My wife and I gasp for air even when she bumps her head on a wall, let alone an asphalt driveway from four feet up. The last thing you need a kid with hydrocephalus to do is hit her head. Another round of brain surgery is not something we want to go through.
She screamed for a bit, but it was only because she scared the crap out of herself (and her daddy!). Otherwise, she was fine and outside playing again in a matter of minutes.
I was too scared to look at the video tape to see what it looked like. I'll take a look over the weekend and if it's not too hairy, I'll share that with you as well.

Wow - that had to be scary! So glad to hear she was just scared and not seriously hurt.
