I had one of those conversations during the car ride home from school today that you wish you had a tape recorder for…

Grace, my youngest, has been – how shall I say it – a little “backed up” for the past few days. The poor thing is in tears every time she tries to poop. Today, when we were picking Quinn up from school, she just burst out crying in the middle of the classroom. I knew what was wrong, but the other children and teachers looked at her, then at me as if to say, “What’s she crying about?” I explained to Quinn in the car how sometimes people can have trouble going to the bathroom. The conversation then went something like this:

“Maybe when we get home I can help her go to the bathroom?”

“That’s very nice of you to offer, but I think she’ll be okay on her own,” I said.

“I’m an excellent pooper, dad. I can help.”

“Yes…, you are an excellent pooper,” I said.

The girl speaks the truth. Yet another talent she gets from her old man. I’m so proud.
