Good News All Around
Filed Under Daddy Posts | 1 Comment
I have great news to report! This morning Grace had her 2-year, follow-up MRI to make sure her hydrocephalus hadn’t gotten worse, and the doctor said things looked very good. He was very encouraged by what he saw in the MRI and how she looked in person. My wife and I breathed a collective sign of relief after he walked out of the examination room. The days leading up to her MRI’s are always nerve-wracking – you start to see things in her behavior that make your brain think the worst. You prepare yourself for bad news just in case. Today’s news, however, was anything but bad.
My other daughter got her first report card this week and she did great! We were so proud of her. At her conference, her teacher said how good she’s doing and what a wonderful person she is. She loves having her in class. To hear that my daughter is a well-adjusted, kind, polite, smart young girl is more important than any grades she gets on a report card. I love that she loves school as much as she does and that she’s well liked by the other kids in the class.
So…, things are good. We’re all getting over colds just as the weather seems to be heading toward spring for good. Perfect timing. The air smelled great today. Tomorrow, I’m taking the girls to my parents house for a visit and a sleep-over…, their first one! The wife gets the weekend off – she’s staying behind to catch up on work and some sleep. She’s looking forward to the alone time and I’m looking forward to a nice visit with grandma and grandpa.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Took the family to the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day parade this past weekend. Temps were almost in the 50′s, so it wasn’t too bad, although standing in one place for over an hour – you tend to get cold. We got a decent spot right next to the Grand Stand at the end of the parade route. Everyone had a good time.
Below are a couple of photos: one of me and the girls; the other of St. Patrick himself! And for those of you interested in 60 seconds of sights and sounds from where we were standing, enjoy!

Christmas In March
Filed Under Daddy Posts | 1 Comment
Quinn went to a birthday party yesterday…, a CHRISTMAS birthday party. Christmas in March, complete with Christmas tree…, and Santa! She was very cute – she wrote Santa a thank you note for one of the presents he brought her on Christmas. It was her idea, she drew the picture and wrote the card all on her own. She was the only kid who did anything like that. Santa was very appreciative. My wife got all choked-up.
