"Yea…, we’re getting tired of the “I’m tired” excuse too. I can’t understand why she can’t control herself by this point either?!"

Beecause she's 5 Chris. From your blog I gather that Quinn is a bright, perceptive, vocal little girl who may be considered mature for her age. When you have kids like this you tend to forget some times that they are still little kids and they have emotional spurts just like growth spurts.

There are always possibilities of other bases for what seems like suddenly different behavior, but with kids Occam's Razor is usually the way to go . Occam's Razor is a rule of logic which says "given multiple possibilities, the simplest one is usually right." In this case, the simplest rationale for Quinn's devlish behavior is that (1) she is 5; (2) and because little kids have no control over their lives sometimes they say "Well, I may not be able to decide when I go to bed or what I eat or if I have to be nice to Grace, but at least I can drive mom and dad crazy!"

The usual "A" response is to remain calm, impose discipline without letting on that she is driving you nuts, and then this too shall pass - eventually! :):)

The demon comes out here sometimes too, and I'm not buying into the "she's tired" or "she's hungry" excuses anymore. It's the same also that when we punish her the fits and crying get even worse. I may be wrong, but I thought that by five they should be able to control themselves a little better.

Maybe we can get a package deal on a double exorcism.
